From a local idea to a home in Ryde
The club began as a Marsfield–Epping junior rugby team, with players also participating in baseball and sisters forming an accompanying netball team. As interest grew, so did demand for more teams. What started organically soon required a permanent home. Under the leadership of Marty Rodgers, who served as the club’s foundation President and coach, Ryde Rugby secured its current oval in Ryde—marking the true beginning of the club as it exists today. Aivi Rodgers played a vital role in supporting the club’s administration during its formative years, helping establish the operational foundations that allowed the club to grow and thrive. Since its inception, Ryde Rugby has remained focused on community sport, development pathways, and long-term participation, creating opportunities for juniors to grow both on and off the field.
